Better facilities for youth football in Cambuslang

Cambuslang Football Club was formed in 2011 to provide a secure environment for young people to practice, play and enjoy football and express themselves on and off the field. The club is a non-profit organisation, and any funding raised is put back into the club for the benefit of the children involved in the teams. The club has teams in various age groups and currently work with around 70 children, playing about five hours a week, and some teams have already won competitions in their age groups. The team colours are red, white and black, being designed to be as neutral as possible.

A major problem for the club is access to training facilities as there are insufficient 3G pitches in the Cambuslang area. Cambuslang Community Council have previously supported the club with a grant for equipment from the Morrison Park Fund. The Council are now seeking to help the club find a site with training and playing facilities of their own. Several sites in the Cambuslang area are currently being explored in discussion with South Lanarkshire Council, South Lanarkshire Leisure and others.
