At the Cambuslang Community Council meeting on 17 March, officers from Police Scotland reminded the public in Cambuslang to be vigilant about opportunistic crime. Over the past year, crime in the area has fallen sharply with reductions of 20-60% in assaults, robberies and disorder. However, Police Scotland warn of the continuing risk of opportunistic crimes, with thieves looking out for windows or doors unlocked, or the chance to ‘fish’ for keys to smart cars. There is also a growing problem of cyber crime, and officers reminded people never to give out bank account details or passwords in response to telephone calls or emails, however plausible the requests may appear.
