On behalf of Virgin Media, the telecoms infrastructure company, Cornerstone and agent Galliford Try Telecoms, are looking for  a suitable telecommunications site for a mobile phone mast and other facilities in Central Cambuslang. The site for the mast – which would be 20 m (60 feet) high –  would be on the Main Street near Cambuslang Parish Church.

Galliford Try have written to elected members and organisations – including Cambuslang Community Council – to seek views on the proposed development. The consultation letter is here: CS30845400 VF024775 Main St Camb B2 – Consultation Letter to Com Councillors – Standard V.3 (1)

The plans for the development are here: CS30845400_VF_24775_0_VMO2_NA_GA_REV A plans (1)

Currently Virgin Media have mobile phone masts on the roof of The Bakery on Greenlees Road, but they have been served with a Notice to Quit. The notification from Galliford Try states that they have assessed and discounted other locations. Details of other locations assessed are here: CS30845400 VF024775 Main St Camb B2 – Discounted site information

Cambuslang Community Council will be discussing the proposed siting of the mast, especially our concerns with its height in relation to buildings and that we already have a lot of unsympathetically designed and located street furniture on our Main Street.
