The first meeting of a new group, Cambuslang in Bloom, was launched this month. Following in the footsteps of the Burnside in Bloom group that have made such a difference to Burnside, Cambuslang in Bloom aim to improve the appearance of Cambuslang through plants and flowers. The starting point is the Main Street, where a £35,000 grant awarded to Cambuslang Community Council will be used to provide street planters, hanging baskets, barrier baskets and a new plant bed – as well as virtual shopfronts and welcome banners. Cambuslang in Bloom has been set up by Cambuslang Community Council in partnership with Cambuslang Allotment Gardens. The first meeting attracted more than a dozen volunteers, supplemented by the Cambuslang in Bloom: UC Youth Team set up by Universal Connections.
