Members of Cambuslang Community Council expressed serious concerns about the planned changes to school bus services being introduced by South Lanarkshire Council. The CCC meeting on 17 March discussed South Lanarkshire’s review of services in the area and the potential ending of free bus services to children living within a 3 mile radius of the local secondary schools. SLC Councillor Russell Clearie explained that this was regrettably due to the major savings having to be made the local authority, but CCC members felt that the changes would be detrimental to children. A petition has been launched to persuade South Lanarkshire Council to reconsider their decision, and which is available here.
