Cambuslang Community Council has agreed to co-fund a memorial plaque to Mark Henderson RN, who was born in Cambuslang and died in the Falkland Islands conflict on 12 June 1982 while serving on HMS Glamorgan. The ship was hit by an Exocet missile in last days of the conflict resulting in the death of Mark and 13 other Royal Navy servicemen. Although a memorial already exists on the Falkland Islands, the Community Council agreed that it would be appropriate to have a local memorial in honour of Mark.  The memorial plaque, instigated by Community Council Vice-Chairman, David Thomson, will be dedicated at a service in Cambuslang Parish Church on 14 June, the day the conflict ended, 33 years ago.
