Gilbertfield, on the southern edge of the border of Cambuslang, is an area in Scotland that is rich in history and natural beauty. A planning application by Persimmon Homes would see 386 homes built on this beautiful site. Apart from the impacts on the environment and heritage of the area, this is another example of a housing developments being approved by South Lanarkshire Council without consideration of the increasing traffic congestion on Greenlees Road, the impact on air quality (already at illegal and unsafe levels at the junction with Main Street) and lack of investment in services.
